Track Your Learning Progress with Completion Tracking

We are excited to announce that QuizAlto now helps you track your learning progress from start to finish — chapter by chapter, course by course, and exam by exam.

Follow Your Course Reading

When you open a course, each chapter is now marked with a reading tick as you go. Scroll through the content and QuizAlto automatically records the chapters you have read, so you can always see where you are and what is left to do.

When you reach the last chapter and have read the whole course, a Mark as complete button appears. One click and the course is marked as completed — a satisfying green tick confirms it.

Passed or Failed at a Glance

After submitting an exam or a quiz, the result is now clearer than ever:

Passed / Failed badges let you see your result at a quick glance.
The passing score is displayed alongside your own score, so you know exactly where you stand.

Course Statistics

The statistics page now includes a Courses section alongside your existing quiz and exam statistics. You can see at a glance:

Total Completed — how many courses you have completed.
Chapters Read — how many chapters you have read.
Courses Started — how many courses you have started.
Average Progress — your average progress across all courses.

And in your course, exam and quiz lists, progress badges mark the content you have already completed.

This feature is part of our commitment to helping you make steady, visible progress and get the most out of QuizAlto.

Introducing Personal Notes and Tutorial

We are excited to announce a new feature that makes it even easier to organize your learning and get the most out of QuizAlto: Personal Notes.

Your Private Knowledge Base

Every user now has a “Personal notes” course created automatically upon signup. Think of it as your own private knowledge base. You can:

Add as many chapters as you like to organize your thoughts.
Use markdown to format your notes with headers, lists, and links.
Keep your learning materials and study notes in one central, private place.

Getting Started with the Tutorial

To help you hit the ground running, your Personal Notes course comes with a “Tutorial” chapter. This chapter provides a short, easy-to-follow series of tasks to guide you through the platform’s core features, such as:

Creating your first AI-generated course, quiz, and exam.
Downloading and setting up the QuizAlto CLI.
Exploring our comprehensive documentation.

This feature is part of our commitment to providing you with the best tools for lifelong learning and knowledge management.

Control Chapter Count in AI Course Generation

You can now specify exactly how many chapters you want in your AI-generated courses — from 1 to 12.

Previously, AI courses always generated 12 chapters (or 1 for terse guidance). Now you have full control:

Slide to choose — A new chapter count slider lets you pick between 1 and 12 chapters.
Terse stays terse — Terse guidance mode still produces a single chapter; the slider is fixed at 1.
Set your default — If you don’t set a value, the course defaults to 12 chapters.

We’ve also improved how the system handles Gemini API rate limits. If the rate limit is hit during generation, the job fails immediately with a clear error message, and any partial content you’ve already generated is saved so you can review it.

CLI SAML SSO Login

Starting today, organisation members can authenticate the Quizalto CLI directly through their organisation’s SAML Single Sign-On provider.

How It Works

When you run quizalto login --device --org YOUR_ORG_ID, the CLI opens your browser and automatically redirects you to your organisation’s corporate login page. After authenticating with your SAML IdP, you are returned to the device approval page where you confirm the user code. The CLI then receives the access and refresh tokens — no password entry needed.

How to Get Started

Ensure your organisation has SAML configured (contact your admin)
Run: quizalto login --device --org YOUR_ORG_ID
Replace YOUR_ORG_ID with the UUID your admin provides
Authenticate through your corporate login page in the browser
Confirm the user code and you are done

Your organisation ID is available from your administrator. The CLI automatically handles the full redirect flow through your SAML provider and back.

Enhanced Category Management

We have made several improvements to category management across the platform.

Organisation Categories View

The organisation category management page now shows only the categories belonging to your organisation. Public categories are no longer mixed in, making it easier to find and manage your own content.

Editing Category Descriptions

You can now edit the description of any category you manage, both for organisation and public categories. When editing a category, simply update the description field alongside the title.

Admin Public Category Management

Global administrators can now manage public categories directly from the admin dashboard. Navigate to the Admin Dashboard and click Manage Categories to create, edit, or delete public categories that are visible to all users.

Collapsible Course Navigation

We’ve added a new collapsible chapter navigation feature to the course viewer!

When you’re working through a course, the chapter outline on the left side of the screen is always visible. This is great for navigating between chapters, but sometimes you want to focus entirely on the content you’re reading — especially on smaller screens.

Now you can collapse the chapter list by clicking the << (chevron) button at the top of the “Course Outline” panel. The content area will expand to fill the full width, giving you a distraction-free reading experience. When you need the navigation back, simply click the >> button to expand the chapter list again.

This feature works alongside the existing Slideshow mode, giving you even more control over your learning environment.

Organisation Categories and Editor Roles

We are excited to announce the release of Organisation Categories and the Editor Role for organisations!

Organisations can now create private categories that are only visible to their members. This will in the near future allow you to organise your content in a way that makes sense for your team.

Editor Role

Organisation administrators can now grant the Editor privilege to any organisation member. Editors can create and manage private categories without needing full administrator permissions.

Grant Editor Privilege: In the Organisation Members list, click the “Make Editor” button next to a member.
Revoke Editor Privilege: Click the “Remove Editor” button next to a member who currently has the privilege.

Organisation Categories

Editors and administrators can create, edit, and delete categories that belong to your organisation. These private categories appear alongside public categories when browsing content, but are only visible to signed-in members of your organisation.

Note: This release focuses on category management only. Assigning quizzes, courses, or exams to organisation categories is not yet available through the interface — we are working to add content assignment in a future update.

Introducing AI Exam Generation

We are excited to announce the launch of our new AI Exam Generation feature!

Building on the success of our AI Quiz and Course generation, you can now create full exam banks using artificial intelligence.

What’s the Difference?

While AI Quizzes generate multiple-choice questions, AI Exam Generation creates open-ended text questions. This is perfect for simulating real-world certification exams where you need to provide detailed written answers.

How it Works

Go to the new AI Exam Creation page.
Enter your desired topic (e.g., “Kubernetes Security” or “Financial Accounting”).
Select a guidance type if you’re preparing for a specific certification.
Click Create Exam and wait for the AI to build your exam bank.

Once generated, you can take the exam just like any other, and our AI-powered marking system will evaluate your written answers.

Introducing Exam Statistics

We are excited to announce that you can now track your progress on exams with our new Exam Statistics feature!

Just like with quizzes, you can now view detailed statistics for your exam attempts, including:

Total exams started, submitted, and abandoned.
Average, minimum, and maximum scores.
Accuracy metrics (correct, incorrect, and unanswered questions).
Progress trends over time (7, 30, 90, and 365 days).

The statistics dashboard has been updated to show your exam performance right at the top, followed by your quiz statistics. This makes it easier than ever to see how you’re doing across all your learning activities in QuizAlto.

New and Improved Pricing Plans Page

We’re excited to announce a major update to our pricing plans page! We’ve listened to your feedback and have redesigned the page to be more transparent, informative, and user-friendly.

The most significant change is that you no longer need to be signed in to view our pricing plans. We believe in transparency, and this update allows everyone to explore our offerings without any barriers so that you can make informed decision about buying (or not buying) our services. The link to the plans is visible in the site header, and is accessible anonymously

Freely Browse Course Outlines

In addition to the plans page, you can now browse the outlines of all our courses without being logged in. This means you can see the structure of a course, including the chapter titles and descriptions, before you decide to sign up or enroll. The content of the chapters themselves still requires you to be logged in, and may require a specific plan. We do offer a small selection of course for free in our cloud concepts category.

Clearer Paths to Our Content

We’ve added several new buttons to help you navigate our content more easily:

For our Free Plan users: You’ll now find “Browse Free Courses” and “Browse Free Quizzes” buttons directly on the plan card. This gives you a direct path to the content you can access for free.
For our paid plans: We’ve added a “Browse All Courses” button, so you can quickly see the full range of content available to you.

Improved Guidance for New Users

We’ve also made it easier for new users to get started:

On the Free plan, you’ll see a “Sign In to Get Started” button if you’re not logged in.
On our paid plans, the upgrade button will now read “Sign In to Upgrade” for anonymous users, making it clear what the next step is.

Better Content Previews

To give you a better taste of our quizzes, we’ve renamed the “Preview Content” button to Preview Quiz Content." This makes it clearer that you’ll be seeing a sample of the quiz questions.

We’re confident that these changes will make it easier for you to choose the right plan and start learning with quizalto.

For some time, quizalto has served as a platform for testing and reinforcing knowledge. We are pleased to announce a significant expansion of our capabilities with the introduction of quizalto Courses.

This update moves beyond knowledge assessment to provide structured learning paths. Our aim is to offer a more comprehensive educational experience, allowing users to build foundational knowledge before testing their understanding, all within the same environment.

To begin, we are releasing seven free courses from our Cloud Concepts category. These are designed to provide a solid foundation for anyone new to the cloud, or for those looking to formalize their knowledge.

I have implemented a change where the content of the site is now mostly available to browse without even signing up. This is so that people who may consider signing up can do so with a higher degree of transparency as to whay they are signing up for.

Once signed up, you get access to the free quizzes, as described in our plans (you have to be signed up to view the plans currently, but I’ll be working on changing that, again for transparency’s sake).

To get access to the premium quizzes, you must be subscribed to a corresponding premium plan.

Now, you can see exactly how many quizzes we currently have, without giving us your email address.

I’ve just completed an important update to QuizAlto’s backend systems, focusing on making quiz content more discoverable. While these changes aren’t visible to users yet (they’re currently just in our API), they lay the foundation for exciting improvements in how you’ll find and access quizzes in the future.

What’s New?

I’ve built a new search system that will soon allow users to:

Search across all quizzes in the platform
Filter results efficiently
Get both quiz and category matches in a single search
Navigate through search results with pagination

What’s Coming Next?

This backend update is just the first step! I’m now starting work on a user-friendly interface that will make these search features easily accessible to everyone. Soon you’ll be able to search for quizzes directly from the main page.

Redesigned Statistics Page

We’ve overhauled the statistics page to give you a better overview of your performance. Instead of a long list of charts, you’ll now find a clear dashboard that groups your data into logical categories:

Activity: Track your quiz generations, submissions, and abandoned attempts.
Performance: Monitor your average, minimum, and maximum scores.
Accuracy: See your total correct, incorrect, and unanswered questions.

New KPI Cards

At a glance, you’ll see your key metrics at the top of the page, including:

Total quizzes started
Average score
Total correct answers
Overall success rate

Smarter Gauges

We’ve fixed issues where 0-value statistics weren’t appearing, and we’ve improved the way percentages (like scores) are displayed to make them more readable.

The new layout is also fully responsive, making it easy to track your progress on any device.
